Coin & spline fastener seals

These type of seals are specially designed to fit directly under the head of ANSI B18 bolt sizes.  The outer metal ring provides a load path for the bolt and eliminates cold flow or creep associated with other bolt sealing methods.  The coin & spline on the inner diameter of the metal washer provides a strong mechanical bond between the rubber and the metal.  This type of bond will not be subject to chemical attack from the surrounding media and prevents bond failure during installation of seal over threads.  The rubber is molded in a rounded configuration to maximize seal resilience and enhance seal performance.

Coin & spline thread seals

These seals are specifically designed to seal directly under the nuts or next to tapped holes for ANSI B18 bolts and screws.  Thread seals are designed to seal along the threads of the bolt as well as around the nut or the tapped assembly.  These seals use a coin & spline mechanical bond or chemical bond method and the rubber has a rectangular cross-section to enhance thread sealing capabilities.  Thread seals require increased void clearance to accommodate the increased rubber volume of this configuration.

Edge-bonded fastener seals

These seals are commonly used when design constraints do not allow the use of coin & spline fastener seals.  As the name implies, the rubber and metal in these seals are chemically bonded together.  For these seals, the rubber cross-section is often designed in a triangular pattern to minimize space requirements.
