Edge-bonded engineered sealsThese
type of seals use the metal frame to create an artificial, one-sided groove on
the sealing surface. The metal frame positions the rubber sealing element
on the desired seal path and it provides a permanent load path once the system
is bolted down. This way, the rubber is optimally squeezed and once the
bolts have been tightened, the metal load path will make subsequent re-torquing
unnecessary. Edge-bonded
seals are generally used in higher volume applications since the metal can be
cost effectively manufactured by stamping. The metal-rubber bond can be
achieved mechanically and/or chemically and they can be designed in a variety of
metal and rubber combinations. Groove-Bonded Engineered SealsThese type of seals use a metal plate machined with ports for the fluids to flow through and grooves into which the rubber sealing element is bonded and molded. The rubber seal configuration maximizes sealing performance while the metal plate positions the seals in optimal locations and provides a torque retention path for the system being sealed. Groove-bonded
seals are used in high demand applications where extreme pressures and/or media
demands must be considered. The machined grooves of this design
protect and reinforce the rubber and allow for one-sided or dual-sided seal
plates. As with all our products, a multitude of metal, metal finish and
rubber combinations are available. Face-Bonded Sealing ProductsThese
type of products are designed and manufactured for a multitude of purposes.
They can be stand-alone sealing elements such as poppets or be designed in
conjunction with edge or groove bonded seals. Face-bonded seals are often
used to seal against delicate surfaces such as glass, crystal and ceramics.
They are also used in sealing applications where the seal is mechanically
activated by a spring, a solenoid or a similar device. |
